Taŋyáŋ Yahí by John Sterner

John Sterner Taŋyáŋ Yahí ( Tahnn yahnn yah hee ) “It’s good that you came”
Exhibition Statement
I researched the idea of int erconnectedness for a land acknowledgement statement that a church wanted to make. I explored bags that held peace pipes and the designs placed upon them. Many of the beaded designs explored images that were about how using the pipe brings others together and demonstrates how we are all related. So the final was to be in hand carved wood so these were some of my preparations that I tried for making relief sculptures in wood and the drawings I made for the project Aekhoyaka.
The exhibition runs September 15 through October 30, 2026, at the Marshall Area Fine Arts Council’s new location on the second floor of Marshall City Hall, 344 West Main Street in Marshall, Minnesota.
